Mentorship Program

Incoming first-years are transitioning into a new environment which can be intimidating and stressful depending on their situation. During the first few weeks of university, a lot of information and resources are thrown at them, and some are unsure what to do with it. This makes their transition to university frustrating and can set a negative tone throughout their first year.

SCESoc’s mentorship program can reverse these effects and create a welcoming, more personal onboarding experience for these first years. Students are given a warm welcome, a space to speak their minds, ask questions and get the best advice from older peers who have previously tackled the challenges they’re facing. Our program seeks to provide a one-on-one experience to the first-years to help elevate their experience with motivation, precautions, high-level explanations, and useful resources.
