Autonomous Vehicle Simulation Workshop

Hey SCESoc! Ever wonder what happens when you introduce a bug in the software of a self-driving car? Does thousands of dollars worth of equipment, work and time go down the drain? Well, thanks to software such as Carla, you can train and test your models in a safe and simulated environment. Carla is an open-source simulator for autonomous driving research. It helps you research, build and test your software in a simulated environment making programming autonomous vehicles more accessible, safe and powerful.

ESDC (the Edison Self Driving Car club) and SCESoc are hosting a workshop on how to use the Carla Software to build simulations for self-driving vehicles. Come out Saturday 26th March @ 12:00 pm to learn more about autonomous vehicle simulation using Carla, aka cruising with Carla. ESDC is a new design team at Carleton, where we are designing and building a self driving car from the ground up, to bring further accessibility to Carleton Campus! Comedy Open Mic Night

Hey SCESoc! Got some jokes? We have an upcoming comedy open mic night!

WHERE: MC 5050 or a stream via Twitch

WHEN: March 18, 7pm

Join us for a “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” event where people write some prompts we pick out of a hat and get people to act them out. Entry tickets are minimum $2 dollars but people can donate more as all proceeds are going towards Children International education programs: https://www.children.org/make-a-difference/donate/education-matters.

This is both an in-person event and an online event (it will be streamed). There’s a capacity of 33 people for in-person attendance so spots are limited!

STEM Fellowship

Hey SCESoc! The Canadian registered charity STEM Fellowship is looking for their STEMpowerment Mentorship Program. This program connects Canadian university students with high school students to help students explore their life, career, and/or academic goals over an extended period of time. They are in specific need for individuals from computer science, engineering and the physical sciences currently. The Canadian registered charity STEM Fellowship provides specialized support for students typically underrepresented in STEM, including students identifying as Indigenous, economically disadvantaged, rural residents, refugees, and new immigrants, but they are open to anyone.
